Hi everybody, I'm going to be building a spanking new computer from parts this weekend and I'd like warning on how to ground myself out so I don't fry my components!
How to avoid static electricity next to computers?
Well, for starters, make sure you hold on to the components either IN or ON their Anti static wrappings.
You can discharge any static within your body by touching any metal of your case, consequently Make sure the power cord to the case's power supply is UNPLUGGED.
Also AVOID touching the contacts on any card, Hold the card along the edges that does NOT have the contacts.
You can buy an anti static wrist strap at Radio Shack for a few dollars if you're existing concerned about static.
