How to copy big files to external complicated drive?

Firewire 400 (1394a) or Firewire 800 (1394b) will be the fastest connections. USB 2.0 have a higher abstract transfer speed than Firewire 400, but Firewire 400 have higher sustained bandwidth.

It's similar to USB is a sprinter that goes really express for 200 yards (meters) after has to stop and rest, and Firewire is close to a distance runner that runs a bit slower, but finishes the entire 4GB faster because they don't have to stop nearly as normally.

That said, USB will work just fine, Firewire is better but don't sweat it unless you move giant files close to this a couple times every single day.

There is also something call eSATA, but that's an enthusiast and professional-grade connection and it will be abundantly more expensive than USB or either type of Firewire.

As for certainly transferring the files, just plug surrounded by the drive and use it like you would an matured floppy or a flash drive, of course.
User File Explorer.

Right click on Start and select Explore.

Browse to your profile and right click and Copy.

Goto the External hdd and and Paste it where you want.

It will bear a while so be patient.
