I hold a 2 yr old Gateway 832GM beside a Pentium 4-630 running at 3GHZ, w 3GB RAM. The processor is mounted on an Intel SE91510J Motherboard and uses a LA775 socket. I am running Vista Home Premium and am using Media Center with a TV tuner. I use this PC to text and watch a great deal of TV and DVD's and I want to use it as a gaming PC so I need as much HP beneath the hood as I can get. I also hold an ATI X1650 Video Card w 512 MB memory. Can I upgrade my processor to a Core 2 Duo and If not how much can I upgrade it? Would it be worth the investment? If not, can the P4 be overclocked? How?
How much can I upgrade my Intel Pentium 4-630 CPU?

This is the compatibility chart from the Intel site. You will not be able to put a core duo processor on your board.
Only you can opt if it will be worthwhile to upgrade your current system. Intel's have not be overclock friendly, not impossible, just not confident. Good luck.
