Look for "upgradability" so far as the processor & push is concerned.



I use an ASUS board for AMD with an AM2 CPU socket because I know it will accomodate quad-core processors once they hit the souk.... that was crucial to me.



If you believe you will be happy near the hardware limitations offered by any specific board then it's not an issue for you.

I would get an ATX motherboard, fashion sure it is Pentium 4 board, and has any PCI or AGP slots

There are two major types of Mother boards surrounded by the market. They are Inter and AMD mother board. Both are polite. Usually we can't predict the life of electronic gadget. If you but new one after you will get replace warrenty for 1 year.
That depends on how much you use it and if it still suits your requests in a couple years and it also depends if you want to dance AMD or Intel. I would say stir with a motherboard that can support Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800.
